Embrace the Emptiness

Remove everything familiar

Wash with cold water

Turn off the heat

Let the food wait until later

Take this day and embrace the emptiness

Ask the hard sap in the trees for direction

Listen to the crunch of dry leaves for guidance

Feel the anticipation of dormant roots

Sit in silence

Uncomfortably

Without the familiar

Then, in the emptiness

Greet the New Year

Deciding, with each action

each choice,

what is truly essential for comfort

    • Remember when I first started to explore literary art and how you helped with my vision of offering writing workshops?! Back when I was known as Vicky, back in another lifetime. I’m so grateful for this mysterious journey called life.
